Little Free Libraries

The Makara Literary Access Map

Makara launched the Public Fiction Project in May 2016 with generous support from The Pollination Project. This seed funding enabled Makara to host pop-up bookshops, develop a website, and facilitate three new Little Free Library sites in Santa Ana. On November 4, 2016, Makara was honored to install the 50,000th Little Free Library in the world at the Illumination Foundation's Children's Resource Center in Santa Ana. Makara is continuing its partnerships with performing arts organizations and homeless service providers to continue to share free books with local communities.

Makara is currently collecting information on locations within Santa Ana (and surrounding areas) where free books are offered to residents. Our online Literary Access Map will feature a database of these locations for easy reference and access. If you know a site that should be added to the map (Little Free Libraries, community centers, offices, etc.), please fill out the form below.
