Book Donation Guidelines



Please contact us before dropping off books (library@makaracenterartsorg) or visit our Amazon Wish List to learn more about the books we are actively seeking for our collection.  Due to lack of storage space and current backlog, Makara cannot accept unsolicited bulk book donations until 2018.

If you would like to donate new or gently-used books to Makara, please visit our online catalog to learn about the books Makara is seeking for its collection. Books will be shelved in our Library & Art Center or used to stock our scattered site Little Free Libraries. 

Makara's Library & Art Center is inclusive and focused on highlighting works by authors & artists of color, LGBTQ communities, Muslims, and other underrepresented groups. For more information or to schedule a pick-up, contact:

  • Spanish: YA, fiction anthologies, general popular fiction
  • Foreign language novels (Spanish/Vietnamese/Khmer)
  • Foreign language children's books (Spanish/Vietnamese/Khmer)
  • Art books: Latin America, African Diaspora, Asian/Asian-American, Indigenous 
  • Graphic novels


  • Books with torn covers and/or pages
  • Books with excessive highlighter & pen marks
  • Books with water/fire/pet damage
