Written in 1935, the plot is about a dictatorship occurring in the USA democracy.

Describe something that surprised you about the book or something that has stayed with you:

Sinclair Lewis foresaw to a frightening accurate extent the type of personality that could become an authoritarian President over 80 years ago. He actually describes our current president very well.

The fictional President Windrip is a profile of President Trump. Unbelievable how many paralells Sinclair foresaw.

YES. Definitely worth a read for our times.
